Freelancer and Contractor Services Association aims to promote compliance and give contractors a voice in the industry.
Freelancer and Contractor Services Association (FCSA) is pleased to announce the launch of their Contractor Payslip Review initiative today.
The service has been created to help protect contractors. Umbrella employees can upload their payslip and reconciliation statement, which will be checked by FCSA via an independent and industry-leading payslip verification service. This will tell them if the calculations are correct, and ensure contractors are properly informed of the deductions their umbrella provider has made. As a result, they’ll be assured that they’re meeting their tax obligations.
It’s available to employees of any umbrella company, not just those who are FCSA Members. The service is also completely confidential, and the user’s identity will never be disclosed to umbrella companies without prior permission. Initially, results will be aimed to be given within seven working days.
If there are any issues, FCSA will reach out to the contractor and liaise with the umbrella company on their behalf. Contractors will also be provided with a report that explains each area of their payslip, for instance tax, National Insurance Contributions, and student loan deductions – ensuring they understand their tax responsibilities.
Chris Bryce, FCSA’s Chief Executive said of the initiative, “The launch of the Contractor Payslip Review is part of our wider ambition to support contractors and give them a voice in the industry. We’ve also carried out payslip checking at each assessment, mystery shopping, spot checks, and required RTI checking with no notice from Members, as well as ongoing reviews of random samples throughout the year – all to help ensure compliance in the industry. As a result, we’re creating a better future for freelancers and contractors.”
Freelancer and Contractor Services Association (FCSA) is the leading membership body for umbrella employers, contractor accountants and CIS payroll services providers with over 70 member firms who support more than 220,000 contractors. Having operated since 2008, they award FCSA Accreditation to service providers that have been independently assessed by top experts to abide by their rigorous Codes of Compliance.
