First Freelance becomes latest FCSA member

FCSA has announced that First Freelance has been accepted as a full member of the Association demonstrating that it fully complies with the trade body’s strict code of conduct.

To become a member an applicant has to undergo a rigorous review of its business services, operations, policies and processes established by the FCSA following extensive liaison with HMRC.

The FCSA Code is designed to demonstrate to Government, as well as freelancers, contractors and recruiters looking for a service provider, that a company is financially stable, provides high quality professional services and operates to the highest standards of transparency and accountability. Compliance with the Code is verified and validated by independent assessors that are regulated accountants and lawyers.  Review documentation is deposited with HMRC at the end of the accreditation process.

Run by a team of specialist accountants and tax professionals, First Freelance was established by managing director Mark Beal-Preston to provide market leading professional support to freelancers, contractors and recruitment businesses.

Commenting on being accepted as a full member of the FCSA, Mark Beal-Preston said: “We are delighted to be joining the FCSA and to be recognised and endorsed for our high standards and ethical way of working.  The Association echoes our own corporate values and commitment to best practice and compliance which can only work to give additional reassurance to our clients and partners and the industry as a whole.  We fully intend to take an active role in the ongoing work of the FCSA and supporting the Association in developing its voice loud and clear to uphold integrity across the industry.”

Julia Kermode, Chief Executive of the FCSA added: “It is great news that First Freelance has been able to meet the extremely high standards required to become a recognised member of the FCSA and I’m very pleased to welcome them on board.  Also, they passed the review without a single amendment being necessary – quite an achievement.

“FCSA membership is the quality mark every freelancer and contractor should look for when choosing a professional services company to advise them. Only then can they be sure that they will receive a reliable, responsible and robust service.  I look forward to working with First Freelance in our mission to continue to raise standards in our sector.”
