Lucy has worked in the umbrella industry for over 12 years, much of her time spent managing one of the most reputable company’s around, before taking the opportunity to return to industry in 2019 as founder of Clarity Umbrella Ltd, a business with a reputation for honesty and transparency. Lucy regularly contributes to the Contractor UK forum, has sat on HMRC round table’s, written for the Financial Times & The LITRG and helped provide guidance for government policy papers.

Matt is a Chartered Tax Advisor with over 20 years’ experience of advising on tax planning and compliance. Matt is the Group Compliance Director for Brookson Group, responsible for ensuring that the services provided by the Group comply with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements. Matt has been with Brookson since 2009, having previously worked for Big 4 accountants, KPMG and PwC.

As COO and board member at Liquid Friday, Joe oversees strategy and provision of services across the group. With extensive expertise in logistics and operations, Joe has over 10 years experience at the heart of the umbrella industry, set in good stead by 5 years working with DWP shaping policy. As well as the demands of his role, Joe is currently working towards an MBA at the University of Portsmouth.

Alex Spendley is a founding director of Nasa Group, with over 20 years’ experience in the sector. In his role as Sales Director, Alex supports Nasa’s key agency partners to ensure their contingent workforce is managed compliantly while also delivering the highest standards of contractor care. With compliance being a key part of Alex’s role, he is deeply invested in Nasa Group’s compliance activities, maintaining and delivering on their commitment to provide reliable & trusted solutions to agencies and contractors alike.

Stephen Hollins


Stephen Hollins has worked at MyPay for 15 years and has over 20 years of industry experience. During this time he has worked closely with numerous agency partners to compliantly manage their contingent workforce needs.

Stephen joined the FCSA board in order to help shape the industry and in-particular the focus on Umbrella regulation. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and coaching his son’s junior football team.

In his role as Director of Compliance at Caroola Group, which includes both Parasol and Caroola Accountancy, Chris is responsible for ensuring that the group is adhering with all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements. Chris has worked in the contractor payroll industry for over two decades, and throughout this period has been gained valuable hands-on experience and expertise spanning sales, operations, and compliance. This experience is used to offer comprehensive advice, guidance, and support at all levels within the supply chain.
