THE BOARD

James has a first-class degree in Mathematics and an Executive MBA. He is a well-rounded leader with a diverse background, from running start-up businesses to leading global strategic change programmes.

Many years ago James set up his own PSC, offering strategic consultancy services to the construction and oil and gas industries. Through this experience he learnt first-hand about some of the intricacies and challenges within the temporary labour market, standing him in good stead to help influence future legislation and regulations.

He later ran the umbrella and payroll offerings for Danbro, Gabem, Trafalgar and Black Diamond until December 2022, gaining invaluable experience within the sector. James joined the FCSA Board in Sept 2020, and elected Non-Executive Chair by the Board and FCSA Membership in Jan 2022. He strives to make positive change across the sector and continually drive best practice throughout the membership base.

Zeeshan Anwar

Zeeshan has a legal background with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Law, and had his first introduction into the contractor services industry with a FCSA Accredited umbrella business. There he spent time understanding the intricacies of umbrella employment and accountancy services, and utilised his legal and compliance knowledge to give best advice.

As Head of Compliance, Zeeshan operates the compliance function at Contractor Umbrella Ltd and Dolan Accountancy Ltd and provides advice not only to internal teams and senior management, but also to contractors and recruitment businesses.

Dan Haslam is Group Sales Director for giant group, helping agencies and hirers manage their contingent workers compliantly and cost effectively, using the whole range of giants services and products.

Dan has over 10 years’ experience in the industry so understands first-hand the challenges companies face when it comes to changing legislation and the constant flux of risk and legislation that impacts the contingent worker market.

Matthew Fryer

Matt is a Chartered Tax Advisor with over 20 years’ experience of advising on tax planning and compliance. Matt is the Group Compliance Director for Brookson Group, responsible for ensuring that the services provided by the Group comply with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements. Matt has been with Brookson since 2009, having previously worked for Big 4 accountants, KPMG and PwC.

As COO and board member at Liquid Friday, Joe oversees strategy and provision of services across the group. With extensive expertise in logistics and operations, Joe has over 10 years experience at the heart of the umbrella industry, set in good stead by 5 years working with DWP shaping policy. As well as the demands of his role, Joe is currently working towards an MBA at the University of Portsmouth.

Alex Spendley is a founding director of Nasa Group, with over 20 years’ experience in the sector. In his role as Sales Director, Alex supports Nasa’s key agency partners to ensure their contingent workforce is managed compliantly while also delivering the highest standards of contractor care. With compliance being a key part of Alex’s role, he is deeply invested in Nasa Group’s compliance activities, maintaining and delivering on their commitment to provide reliable & trusted solutions to agencies and contractors alike.

Stephen Hollins has worked at MyPay for 15 years and has over 20 years of industry experience. During this time he has worked closely with numerous agency partners to compliantly manage their contingent workforce needs.

Stephen joined the FCSA board in order to help shape the industry and in-particular the focus on Umbrella regulation. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and coaching his son’s junior football team.
